AFC Champions League debuts on EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2 Singapore and Malaysia

Introduction of 32 top Asian club teams adds a new twist to the highly popular game

23 October 2009, Singapore – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and IAHGames are proud to announce that an all-new Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League mode will be coming to EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2 in Singapore and Malaysia. This new game mode will be released on 27th October 2009. Gamers can now play as their favourite AFC Champions League club and compete virtually on Asia’s biggest club football stage.

The mode will feature all 32 teams participating in the 2009 AFC Champions League, sporting authentic team kits and with detailed tournament rosters, giving fans and existing players alike the opportunity to play as their favourite ‘home’ team

Top Asian clubs like Pohang Steelers from Korea, Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia, Singapore’s very own Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Football Club and Indonesia’s Sriwijaya Football Club will be making their virtual debuts in EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2.

“This is definitely a first for online sports games in Asia with many clubs being immortalised virtually for the first time. Given the popularity of local clubs across the region, we are very happy and proud that EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2 will feature the best Asian clubs, especially those from Southeast Asia,” said Jonathon Sze, General Manager for EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2 at IAHGames.

Gamers playing EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2 start out by taking their chosen team through their paces in ten training matches. As the team plays more matches, the players gain vital experience points which can be used to boost their skills and attributes, giving them that all-important edge amidst the intense competition.

Once the team has been fully drilled, the action picks up with the commencement of the tournament proper. Being an exact replica of its real-life counterpart, the AFC Champions League mode is accurate down to the group stage line-ups. Such attention to detail allows gamers to experience both the heartache of defeat and the sweet taste of victory, as if they were playing alongside their sporting heroes.

EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2, a free-to-play online football game, is based on the massively popular EA SPORTS™ FIFA series and has attracted more than 5 million gamers from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, since its commercial launch last year, making it one of the most popular online games in Southeast Asia.

As one of South-East Asia’s biggest online operators/publishers, IAHGames currently has over 20 million registered gamers in its database since its launch in 2008.
