EA SPORTS FIFA ONLINE 2 Commercial Service begins in Singapore and Malaysia

23 JAN 2009, SINGAPORE - Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment, and IAHGames, a major provider of online entertainment software and services in South East Asia based in Singapore, announced today the start of the commercial service for EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2 in Singapore and Malaysia. IAHGames will operate the game in Singapore, while EA and IAHGames will work with MyCNX Holdings (M) Sdn. Bhd. to operate the game in Malaysia.
Singapore and Malaysia will join the growing list of Asian countries including Korea, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam, in which FIFA Online 2 has been commercially launched.

With the start of the commercial service, new and exciting in-game items will be added to the Item Shop to enhance the FIFA Online 2 experience: for example, players can purchase a pair of goggles to boost the passing skills of their midfielders, or a medical kit to revive an injured striker. These items and more will be available to Singaporean and Malaysian gamers.

Gamers will soon be able to purchase EA SPORTS FIFA Online 2 game cards, which are produced together with FIFA Partner VISA. These game cards can be used to buy in-game items from FIFA Online 2. In the meantime, Singaporean gamers can use the IAHGames iCash game value cards, which are valid for various online games operated by IAHGames.

“We are very excited to be going commercial with FIFA Online 2 in Singapore and Malaysia. Judging from the more than one million gamers across South East Asia who have registered and played FIFA Online 2 during our beta test stages, I believe a lot of FIFA football fans are looking forward to this launch,” said Chris Thompson, VP and GM, EA Asia.

“The overwhelming regional responses to our series of beta tests are very encouraging. I am confident that the partnership between EA, IAHGames and MyCNX will lead FIFA Online 2 into a new realm of competitive game play experience for both Singaporean and Malaysian gamers,” said Roland Ong, CEO of IAHGames.

Datuk Dr. Mohamed Arif Nun, Chairman of MyCNX Holdings (M) Sdn. Bhd, is also confident that the local community will be enthralled with the commercial launch of FIFA Online 2 in Malaysia. “MyCNX’s ongoing commitment is to constantly offer a variety of content and services to Malaysian gamers, and we are pleased to collaborate with EA and IAHGames on FIFA Online 2. With its strong brand history and high quality game play, FIFA Online 2 will bring more excitement and enjoyment to both gamers and football fans in Malaysia, and help grow the online game market here.“

FIFA Online 2 is the latest online version of the blockbuster EA SPORTS FIFA video game franchise. Featuring a comprehensive line-up of the most popular professional football leagues, clubs and players, as well as innovative game play features, FIFA Online 2 offers Asian gamers an immersive and authentic football experience. Gamers will be able to build-up and manage their ultimate team in the challenging Career mode, or pit their skills against other gamers in the multi-player World Tour mode.

The IAHGames iCash game value cards, in denominations of S$5, S$10 and S$60, will be available from all 7-Eleven outlets, Comics Connection Stores and Popular Bookstores throughout Singapore.

Malaysian gamers can obtain the FIFA Online 2 game DVD at 7-Eleven stores and Popular Bookstores nationwide. In conjunction with its nationwide launch, a special virtual tournament will be organized for football enthusiasts at  participating Internet Cafes.  Cash prizes worth RM1,000 can be won daily during the 30-day tournament commencing mid-February 2009.
