For this month’s Gamer Girl feature, or as we love to call it: GG, meet someone who has lived in four countries, and where does she choose to really settle down? The online game world. We speak to Emmylia Darmadi Lee, whose sarcasm-laden answers are as spicy as her name.
On my ‘exotic’ name
That’s a weird combination of last names, I know! It reflects my multi-cultural background: born in Germany, moved to Indonesia, then to Singapore, and at the movement I'm in Down Under (Australia), nation's capital (Canberra).
Quite often I'm mistaken for a Korean over here. I blame the single eyelids and fair skin – though I don’t get it. I’m Chinese by race.
When I ‘grow up’, I don't want to get old. Why? Because... it feels awesome to be young? On a more serious note, I don't think we ever ‘grow up’, since we never stop learning each and every day. My aim is still to seek wisdom, knowledge, and answers to the big questions of the world (religion, the meaning of existence, the universe… blah blah blah).
Oversized breasts
I don't have a favourite female game character. Most of them in Granado Espada have oversized breasts! But if I reallllllly have to pick one, I would grab Grace Bernelli. She's skilful and graceful.
I am commonly thought as a male in online games because of the way I communicate (I don't use ^^ enough, sadly). I am used to it, though. It's just hilarious to see the faces and reactions of your online friends at real-life gatherings!
Games I <3
Is this the part where I start promoting one IAHGames product? LOLz. I like too many games at any point in time, so I can't decide on one. I can tell you about Granado Espada though!
The MCC feature totally caught my attention. I enjoy playing and raiding with my friends, and I usually hang around with them to do silly stuff. Occasionally, I also enjoy *cough* bashing *cough* some random beggar asking for in-game monies. I also enjoy making fun of PeoPlE WhO TaIpS LyKkKkKk DyZzZzzZz InNnnZzz GaaAaMeEee.
I also play console games. Recently I'm addicted to party games (SingStar, Lips, Buzz, etc.) and even Borderlands because the design was totally to my liking. The gameplay experience was totally awesome – it even lets you split the screen! Also, Super Mario Bros on Wii is awesome on 2-player mode.
Are you there, uncle? It’s me, Emmylia
I thank my uncle for my first Sega console and game – Sonic the Hedgehog. I was like, four years-old when we first played, and have enjoyed gaming ever since. I play Tekken, Tetris with my dad, and Othello and board games with my mum.
Too bad my uncle is not here any more for me to show him this article. I am pretty keen to show him, but I'm not too sure how to e-mail him in heaven. Maybe to

On ‘hunting’
Let's see, I play games (Xbox, Wii, DS) and also sports for leisure (badminton, basketball – recently I am very keen in going snowboarding yet again).
Hanging out is awesome if you're at your friend's place, doing random stuff such as gaming, cooking, or even playing music. I also fancy hanging out at some cosy cafe when the weather outside is nice, or some warm and comfortable bar if the weather outside is being unfriendly.
I do stuff like... the usual? Studies, assignments, rushing up projects, chasing up people, playing music, reading, and outdoor photo-shoots/hunting if the weather's good :)
Hunting? No, not hunting animals! The term ‘photo-hunting’ is what I use with my photography mates. We ‘hunt’ around for good places that suit our photography needs and thirst for good shots.
On a side note, animal hunting is legal in some state forests here, and only towards certain animals, which are usually less 'beautiful'. That’s proving to cause ecosystem imbalance.
On the other hand, even though brumbies (wild horses) are harming forests and the land structure with their large numbers and constant trampling, they are considered 'sacred' and 'mythical' so hunting them is disallowed…
15 minutes of silence
My most memorable date? Let me see. Ah, yes. I remember. That was when I went for a date that had 15 minutes of silence at a steak place. It was very, very boring and I think that was really memorable because I had never had such a boring date before!
If you're reading this because you're a male gamer, I'm sorry, but it was! That… was eventually the most boring and disastrous date of my life.
No guys who TyPesZ LyKz DiZz, please!
I like guys who are fun. I mean the ones that do have enough guts to talk to girls and not just from behind the screen. Definitely not the guys that TyPesZ LyKz DiZz, or think they are the smartest dudes in the whole wide e-world.
General impression of gamer guys? There are some cool and awesome ones, but you get your sleazy ones too. General impression: they WILL shout out loud during Colony Wars, be it PG or non-PG words. And then at other times they can be real shy. Such a contradiction!
I only trust some guys I’ve met online, based on my instincts (and they are so far always correct!). In-game marriages and relationships? I don't think too much of them. It's a virtual marriage, so the relationship might just be a role-play. We'll never know unless we get into the minds of the couples themselves.
Emmylia would like us to pimp her pages on DeviantArt, Tumblr, and Wordpress. And so we have. She doesn’t like her face on some “blingy pink and blindingly bright banner” either. And we’re obliging to the best of our abilities. The things we do to please some people!
Meanwhile, Emmylia shows off more of her pictures in our compulsory GG gallery below. Happy browsing.
